This iconic image is of Lana Del Rey, a soul-pop singer that has since become one of the most well known pictures of her.  In the photo she is wearing Terry Richardson’s signature glasses and is wearing a simple white tee shirt, both things obvious aspects of Terry Richardson’s very deliberate style (simplicity and his glasses).  In this particular photo Richardson uses the rule of threes to position Ms. Del Rey slightly off center drawing your eye toward her.  He uses the negative (white) space to his advantage, instead of taking away from the subject of the photo it draws one’s eye toward the subject of the image. Richardson uses harsh lighting in this photo, probably from directly in front of the subject (if the light were from the sides, top, bottom, or behind the subject the shadows created by her bone structure would be much more severe).
